1) Surf the Web in style
The Web. Period. You can get any site, anywhere, at any time. It’s your Web, to go
2) “X marks the spot” — start at the right place
When you load a page, Opera Mini will automatically suggest a place to begin reading. When it’s time to dive into the page, Opera Mini zooms in and cleanly focuses on the content you want.
3)Stay at the right place
Opera Mini dynamically changes the size of text and images to make it convenient to read without a lot of unnecessary scrolling.
4) A mouse!
We included a virtual mouse to make it easy to scroll in any direction. The mouse cursor will look for content and links, and snap the view to them.
5) Power scrolling
Scroll faster using the keypad. Simply hit 2 to go up, 4 to go left, 6 to go right and 8 to go down. Opera Mini will snap the view to the content. Hit 5 to zoom in and out.
6) Fast and cheaper browsing
As always, Opera Mini delivers the pages you want, quickly. In doing so, Opera Mini makes your data bill cheaper, too. Opera Mini loads pages more than 2x faster than other mobile browsers
7) Good old Small Screen Rendering
Is it just too much scrolling for you? Turn on “Fit to width” and enjoy the pages in the Small Screen Rendering view. In this view, the structure of the Web page is changed into a single vertical column, removing the need to scroll horizontally while browsing.
8 ) Quick access to key functionality with the context menu
Hit 1 to open the context menu, where you can turn on Small Screen Rendering (Fit to width) or reload the page. When focusing the cursor on a link you can see where the link really will take you, or choose to open the linked page with images turned off. When browsing with images off, you can choose to load the images in a page by selecting “Load images”. You can even load the image in its original size and uncompressed, high quality by choosing “Open image”.

Opera Mini is a great browser. I have been using it near enough too years on a number of different handsets. It is fast and effcient and on many occasions works far better (not to mention quicker) than internal browsers. Sure full browsers have more features but I have used a multitude of mobile web surfing software and it is not always fun. My PDA has Internet Explorer (functional but somewhat mutilated), Opera mobile 8.65 whichis beautiful, but sluggish in loading pages (not slow, but just a feeling). Also you have to pay for Opera Mobile, and Opera Mini therefore has similar navigation and easy to use features, and is faster than Internet Explorer, so you are left with a free browser that is quite usable. It also sends compressed data to your handset and the same web pages with loads of images and text are more memory intensive on full browsers. On PDAs the best browser by far is Minimo by Mozilla, but you need to have some horsepower behind your device, and although it works OK on my T-Mobile MDA Vario 2, it still runs far better on devices with higher sytem capacity.
In such a climate, it is best to go for something fast and usable, and Opera Mini does it everytime. I have also used Opera Mini on Nokia N70 and 5230i, as well as my brothers N95, and for the non-technical, this browser is just simple straightforward browsing.
I found the N95 broswer to quickly fill its cache, and close down. This was unacceptable. Also, as the screen cannot be scaled down or made to fit one column, it is quite useless as you keep scrolling everywhere. A mobile browser, at the very least needs to be able to reformat pages (optionally, as some prefer the original formatting). I find this to be a nuisance, and personally I have no intention to use the cumbersome native browser on that device.
However, horses for courses. I have heard some people whinge about Opera Mini, and they forget two things.
a) it is free (and you don’t have to use it), and
b) Some phones do not have built in browsers and are not capable of using full java based browsers, and in such cases Opera Mini is a brilliant solution, as it allows you to use your WAP connection and surf real web pages without generating a massive bill.
Browsers like this are designed for a different purpose than what some may be whinging about, and this is not supposed to compete with more powerful mobile browsers (as the name suggests it is a ‘mini’ browser). Ironically it performs better than most full browsers, and can give them a run for their money. You can even download things, although some people’s older handsets may take some time. Normally when you download files, the browser closes and starts to download the file, as it needs to access the connection, and for some reason it shuts down the browser. If you don’t beleieve me, go to Wank.com and download a free clip, and you’ll know what I mean (not that I watch porn, this example is for illustrative purposes only).
Anyway, check it young ones!!
When I talk about using Opera Mini on other phones above, I mention the 5230i, but that was a mistake. I meant the Nokia 6230i. Also, the above post has some unforgivrable grammatical errors, and I apologise for that but I wrote the post in a hurry. If something does not make sense please let me know and I’ll explain what I meant.

Normally when you download files, the browser closes when it starts to download the file, as it needs to access the connection, and you’d have to restart it after the download completes (just go to the history option and select the last page you were looking at to make this a little less annoting).

Also, if you download video clips remeber to have software installed that will let you play it. Most phones with video playback can play 3gp, so download erightsoft’s super, and convert your video clips to 3gp, and enjoy!!!
