RTEmagicC Symbian Belle 468x408 txdam2810 14acd8.jpg Symbian Belle coming to Nokia N8 Q1 2012 – here are the reasons its worth updating and will make your phone ten times better

In my opinion the Nokia N8 is one of the best Symbian smartphones, and for that matter any make smartphones you can buy, it has the best camera-phone. And now this handset is about to get even better and many users were under the impression it would be by now. Most users included me were hoping it would be here by now and we would have it, but unfortunately it was not to be. With an update to Symbian Belle just around the corner now it has been confirmed it will be Q1 2012 we will soon be able to enjoy this great OS on our handsets, here are the top 10 reasons why Symbian Belle is better than Symbian Anna.

Nokia N8 Symbian Belle update incoming (OFFICIAL): Why its better

Great new look
With its striking new icons and bright and colourfully redesigned interface Symbian Belle is the best looking version of Symbian to date. Taking all that has made Symbian Anna such a great OS and then fine-tuning it to be better than ever on the Nokia N8, Belle looks amazing.

Glance-able design
By streamlining the interface and putting all your most important information within easy sight and reach, Nokia has made Symbian Belle fully glace-able. Letting you see and read everything you need in seconds by just glancing at your Nokia N8, the OS is easier to use than ever.

Faster navigation
With a great choice of new navigation tools at the bottom of the Symbian Belle interface, it’s never been so easy to find your way around your Symbian smartphone. Offering faster and more intuitive control, whatever your needs and experience level, Symbian Belle works great on the Nokia N8.

More home screens
Symbian Belle doubles the amount of home screens you could previously use on your Nokia N8. Offering a choice of six home screens for you to customise, you can easily set up your phone exactly how you want it for faster and easier access to all the tools that matter most to you.

East access Widgets
Improving accessibility even further, Symbian Belle also lets you create easy one-tap widgets, which you can pin to your home screens for faster access to your favourite Symbian apps. Adding a new widget takes a second or two and you can open your app with ease from your Nokia N8’s main screens.

Info-packed Status Bar
No longer do you need to roam around to find out about missed calls, texts or reminders, as Symbian Belle’s impressive new Status Bar and Notifications Tab lets you view all this information from a single panel with just one quick tap, helping you to manage your communication easier on the Nokia N8.

A better Lock Screen
And even if your Nokia N8’s screen is locked, you can still find out who’s been getting in touch with you with just a quick glance, as all information on your missed calls and text messages, among others, can be found on the Symbian Belle lock screen, making it easy to see what’s going with a quick look.

Easier friend updates
Viewing your email and social network updates is just as easy on the Nokia N8, thanks to Symbian Belle. With its great email and social network widgets you can quickly browse all of your recent mail and updates right from the Symbian Belle home screens, without ever needing to open an app.

Live Multitasking
Symbian Belle now makes multitasking even more useful than ever, with its great Live Multitasking feature on the Nokia N8, as you can now see exactly what all of your apps are doing when they’re running in the background, making it incredibly easy to find and access the apps you want on your N8.

Great new apps
And with a great range of apps on offer from Symbian Belle, your Nokia N8 can be better equipped than ever once you update to the new OS. With a suite of powerful new business apps included, among others, your N8 can enjoy a new lease of life and you can get straight down to business.

So get excited people, are you looking forward to Christmas and the New Year, or are you more excited to see these pass and know that belle will soon be landing on your Nokia N8

Ja estou usando a muito tempo o Belle e realmente é melhor. agradecimentos ao meu amigo Satiro da comunidade.

N8 has no NFC Hw=no nfc support,  of first gen S^3 only C7 has built in NFC which is also a reason for it having 1GB ROM..

  • S Bakalarczyk

leaked belle does not have live mulitasking.

Need more apps and HD games….not firmware update….

All that is well and good, but there’s no mention of the inexplicable delay, considering the initial (and official) Qt 3 2011 statement, announcing a Qt 4 2011 release. Nokia fails to deliver on its promise, which will cost them legions of customers, most likely yours truly included.

on my n8 with leaked cfw multitasking works perfekt! I love belle!

What is the source of the “confirmation” that Belle is coming within the first three months of 2012? I have only seen rumors of a release in “early” 2012. “Early” means, in Nokia-speak, sometime before Jan 1, 2013. And that’s subject to another of Nokia’s many delays.

Really, it must be a slow news day, when articles such as this rate the time to read, much less write. Yes, Belle’s great. Unfortunately, it’s being released by a company that either has no control whatsoever in its development cycles or simply doesn’t care to clue its current users into when long-overdue and long-promised updates actually will be delivered.

In the vacuum of reliable information, there are a lot of Nokia-related bloggers claiming to know something, but actually knowing nothing more than the rest of us Nokia owners.

how should i get belle for my n8? can anyone help me in this?

Recommend you try dailymobile.se.  This forum has excellent Belle based custom firmware as well as detailed directions on how to flash using Phoenix software.  I did this successfully with my N8, using Belle Delight (111.030.0607).  So far so good.  Just be sure to read up within the forum to prepare yourself for the Phoenix exercise.

  • Sachcha18

When i tried flashing my nokia n8 with belle i got this error messege! “Neither DP1.0 nor DP 2.0 was found for the Product, or the Product cannot be identified.”This is the error i get when i go to “Flashing>Firmware Update” (just before selecting the variant), (5th step mentioned in http://durian-tech.com/2011/08/21/video-flash-symbian-belle-on-your-nokia-n8-tutorial/)!
    Please help me…

  • APai

yeah, but its ages and ages that Nokia has been delaying the release of belle. they had one year from around the time elop announced the way forward. maybe Nokia’s core focus on WP7 is not helping the symbian team much.

  • Iamger18

My N8 is still using Symbian Anna is it Possible to change it to Symbian Belle?

  • Anonymous

    *yawn yawn*

Before starting the complaining, think about how much programing needs to go into the OS for it to work on the various hardware specs that vary across the different generations of symbian 3 devices.  The delay is inconsequential for the amount of effort put it – and I’d rather a late, great OS than a hastily released buggy OS.

The legions aren’t going anywhere – they’re happy to wait for the update.  The impatient people without a clue what software devlopment means are the only ones to leave, and even then it’s only because they’ve wound themselves up over rumoured release dates and get upset when the rumours and reality don’t match!

  • http://jarlepetterson.magntize.com/ Jarle Petterson

Firstly: With just a handful of programmers, I’d buy your explanation without hesitation, but this is Nokia we’re talking about. I very much doubt they have limited their staff of programmers to a mere eight or ten.

Secondly: The two last release announcements (first scheduled for late Q3, then late Q4) were indeed official, expressed by Mr Elop himself, in Nokia issued press releases.

If however (and contrary to what is the case — presumably) the number of Symbian programmers is limited to eight or ten, the eventuality of severe delays ought to be taken into account in the first place, preventing such overconfident (not rumoured) announcements.

    symbian Anna is tooo bore

  • Through-with-it

    Word! Totally agree

  • Through-with-it

First of all, Jarle: love the way you write in English! And I totally agree with you. Promisses made …

  • http://jarlepetterson.magntize.com/ Jarle Petterson

Why thank you kindly! Don’t think I ever came across a travesty like this, from professionals, at any rate. Rumours would have it it’s being released next week — announced with wording making the two-quarter delay sound like a premature release(!).

There are several reasons not to upgrade. First the new version of maps is a downgrad for us that use the GPS for walking. Second, the functionality regarding Mobile data has become real bad. Belle has much fewer settings regarding connectivity and since I travel a lot between different countries this functionality is essential to me. I use Belle on my Nokia 701 but I will not use it on my N8.
