Hugely frustrating!! While I previously didn’t notice the gazillion problems that came with my phone before reading this post, I’m acutely aware of each and every one of them now. It seems the firmware upgrade has been released for one or two region coded phones, but the majority around the world are still excluded from the update. Add to this list of defects, errors and bugs, Nokia marketing’s srew-up for announcing this update while preventing the great majority of the world from accessing it!

BTW, does anyone know whether there’s a manual way of installing the update outside the standard *#0000# Nokia-sanctioned method??

The 11.49 update still does not work. The following problem still exist:
The backlight switches off within 2-3 seconds no matter what power save feature is on. This is very bothersome. If the power save feature is changed the phone responds correctly for few minutes, after that it resets to the same problem.
THe light does not come on manytimes during an incomming call and while the phone is ringing. Cant see who the caller is. The keys have to be pressed twice initially to get the key to respond.
The screen is black in power save mode, so no date/time/etc can be seen.

New feature request: Nokia is requested to correct the features above and to add the one below:
To have a customised app selectable accelerometer setting. The sensor should not be for the whole phone, it should work for certain apps only. For example the contact, dailing screen, message composer etc does not require sensor as you cant type in landscape and it becomes inconvinant then.
