Hi I updated my firmware to version 20.0.012 and now the problem i am facing is that the lock code is not accepting 12345 which was the default. I am not able to enter into my phone and do anything,,,
somebody please tell me what lock code to enter…..

Do a reset, the password will then be rest to 12345.

1. reset your phone using *#7370#
2. reinstall the update if the reset does not work, then reset again

All your stuff will remain, but you may need to redo the theme and a couple of minor settings.

You cannot start a lock code with a (*) or a # when trying to reset to factory setting which is what i need to do. Are there any ways around this to get my hpone back to factory state?

I did have the same problem after i update my firlware to 20.0… .
for this Search Problem [ system Eror ] I did Restore my Back Up ( which you should also have it in memory card) , I Restor everything ( INCLUDING backed up Files , then I did these STEPs : >>> ( Settings > phone > Application sett. > Search > search services > then I removed tiks from Peoples and places , then OK , and thats it! now my search in home screen is working very nice withOut any Error .

and for those who said : for Updating the Firmware to 20.0… hey Guys! dont try Update it from the settings and Options inside of your phone ! If you did try to Update from that Option in your phone which is ( I think) Device Update or Update device ( or something like that.. it gives you No Updates are availble ! forget about that .

for Updating your firmware , U HAVE to Update it Only via : Nokia software Updater ( Nokia Pc suiet) just you must have this software installed in your Computer and then Plug in the USB cable to your PC and your phone , then Start open this Nokia software Updater program in your computer … then foloow the On screen Orders.

the new firmware File size is 119.5 MB (something like that ) and dont forget to DO back up your things in your phone Before Starting to Update the firmware.
FOR Back Up : in your phone , go to Menu > Application > File Mgr. > Back up > then choose Back Up All ( messeges. Calender enteris , FILEs and every thing [ just Select ALL ] then Back it op into your MEMORY card .

after back up ( which should Not take much time.. ) you are ready to Start Updating ( which takes some time .. )

I just said in my last cpmments , DONT CHECK for UP DATING NEW FIRMWARE ( 20.0….) FROm your PHONE ITSELF!! U should TRY with Nokia Software Updater
that U should Install it on your Computer, then when you Connect the USB cable to your computer and your Nokia 5800, Start the Nokia Software Updater in your computer , then int WILL show you the Update is AVAILABLE

So, after reading about the bug with the LOCK CODE problem (phone can not be used anymore because the security code changed randomly after update),
do you think it is worth taking the risk of updating to v20 anyway ??
As far as I understand, there is not yet a solution available and nobody can guarantee that updating via Nokia Software Updater will prevent me from this ??

the product code .. hacking your phone ( to accept unsigned Apps …) and other professional things …

I updated the software to V.20 but my gallery is not working, Whenever I open the music player it says” Repairing corrupted Library, Searcing for Media files and podcasts” yesterday it was doing this the whole night and when I woke up in the morning the phone was still searching and no luck. I can access the songs from Menu>Applications>File MangerSonds> Digital, but Music player wont work. Images are fine. Did not check videos. Please help me, I bought it only 2 weeks ago. Thanks.

I updated the phone to v20.0.0.12 and the shortcuts theme for the desktop isn’t working anymore. the app shortcuts won’t appear and i can’t open contacts and dialler from the bottom of the screen. the rest works fine but this is annoying. HELP PLEASE!!

My problem for the music player got solved by returning it to the factory settings. but I have another issueand that is when I unlock my mobile by sliding the side button, the mobile use to vibrate before, but now it doesnt. Any suggestions of what is causing this to happen. Thanks.

Hello all. My 5800 only showed v 11.009 something. I updated to that.. Then I used JAF to change the product code to euro1 and updated my phone to v 20. At first it had problems like the search one showed system error and there were no new apps like dictionary and app update. What i did was I connected my phone to pc suite and installed a new app and restarted the phone. This solved the search error and the apps were there now. But the phone was a lil slow and some how the phone code error came. I formated the phone and everything is perfect now. One more thing the auto rotate feature is slow in the new firmware if theme effects are turned on. If you turn it off its really fast.

And the *#7370# code will only bring your phone to factory state not solving any problems. What I suggest is you format the phone. The best thing to do is before you update backup all your stuff to the memory card and update your phone, using JAF to change product code if you dont see v20. After updating and backup take the memory card out and switch off the phone. Now immediately after turning your phone on hold down the green red and the camera key together till the nokia hands screen comes and after that the new settings wizard opens. This will format your phone with the new firmware and all errors will be gone. Firmware 20 still has some bugs though but its worth updating. The only thing i hate about v20 and not v11 is that the sensor that helps the phone to turn the screen off when its in ur pocket or close to ur face is different. In v11 if a call comes and the phone is in ur pocket the screen will stay off but in v20 its on which makes the screen prone to accidently answer a call. Another thing is when you make a call the screen wont turn off unless the other party picks up the phone. Small but usefull loss… I hope they put this back in the new update.

First my nokia 5800 got locked on upgrading the firmware. A swap phone was supplied by company in 20 days . This phone is unable to upgrade to newer firmware version. The music content are locked. Also, the phone does not plugs into system and does not gets connected to PC Suite. Other than that the phone headphone adaptar is mulfunctioning in a months time. Phone and adaptar are now at Nokia care for replacemnet.i.e. 2 times in 2 mts. time.

Hi Guys, I have purchased my Nokia 5800 on 15th Jan from India. and as most of the asians are facing problem of no updates available, i was also facing the same problem. but now I have updated it to v20. but offcourse have to do some tricks.
First I had changed its product code via JAF, than updated firmware through NSU (P C Suite).
*and most importantly, backed up full data and than deactivated security codes and changed it to 12345
Secondly, after update, changed product code to original one through JAF.
Although I didnt faced problem of lock code. but after reading all those “lock code” related comments I have checked my lock code. surprisingly at a first attempt problem persisted. but when i changed it to number mode via pressing # for a while, than entered 12345, WOW! it worked……

One small bug was bothering me for past two instance. automaticall phone was asking “passcode for N70″. although phone is working smoothly since last 30 hours. And all those features mentioned by many users have been actually added, like working secondary camera, additional application, fast processing, geotaging etc… hope this comment will help some of the users… if you have still problem or problem in accessing JAF do write me at hdebnath@gmail.com…..

I faced a problem while updating the software on my 5800 xpressmusic. towards the end of the update i kep on getting an error ‘ not able to get nokia host server or files’ or something llike that, and then the nokia software updater kep on telling me that it was safely trying to restore my software. I updated my phone to v.20 but when i put the theme effects “ON” i face a problem. The problem is that when i enter my gallery from my main menu it lists “Images and Videos, Songs… etc…” but i can’t see the red highlight on any of them when i click on the screen although it vibrates on the click and i can open any of them… but the annoying part is that the highlight doesn’t show

My story with this mobile is:

i forget the phoneLock Number, then i went to a phone shop to format it, and after that i insert my MemoryCard….
BUT NO WAY TO REACH THE FILES INSIDE IT, because it’s keep asking for !!!(memory card password)!!!
before the format there was no password on the memory card, i try all the Numbers (12345,00000,and the one i forgot) but no way.
and i try out to put it in a memory card reader on many pc’s but not working either, and then i update it to the latest version but it still the same.
I dont want to format it…..please someone HELP ME

i have problems with my WLAN… before update i can browse the web using WLAN… now after the update, though i can connect to the wifi hotspot but when i start browsing the browser says no gateway reply… did all the necessary things to reformat the phone but the problem persist…. what should i do sirs?

I did not know how, but if I have to recall, perhaps the following action I did made this problem disappear.

I setup my Nokia into original or default setting.
During this process my Nokia asks my pin numbers I have to fill/insert.
After that I did not notice any change except that return to the default setting.

Adakadabra a day later wen i use search menu, it works well and when i went to applications, i found that the ‘dictionary’ is there.

There is a simple solution, a ‘hard’ reset by keying in *#7370# with the passcode being the default 12345. After this the search function worked fine. A word of warning before undertaking this. It will reset the phone completely and anything saved on the phone’s internal memory, (not the memory card) will be deleted which will include all contacts, calendars, sms and applications that are installed there. BACK THESE UP FIRST!

Thanks a lot now every thing work good, when you do the reset (*#7370#) The search button starts workin and the dictionary is in the applications so if anyone is having a problem just do the reeset of the phone!))

Yeah, a reset does the trick for dictionary and Application Updates.

But it does NOT have to be a hard reset.
Instead, “soft” reset your phone by *#7780#
It will keep all data, only change the settings like changing your ringtone to default, changing wallpaper to default, etc.
Minimum changes to the phone.

However, the pre-loaded music files are still not playable after the firmware upgrade to 20.0.012.
Hope Nokia finds a way to get round the problem.

hey guys, i bought nokia 5800, 2 mnths back. There is a strange prob my log details are not getting updated, I hv chkd all the stting in log menu. had a talk to customer care also but they are simply useless. smtimes in between it automatically shows last 4-5 calls but again .. the same prob persist… ny one can gv sm clue…

After I updated my Nokia 5800 firmware from 11.0.009 to 20.0.012 via Nokia Software Updater (NSU) this morning, I noticed the ‘Search’ at the home screen will always displaying “System Error” and I couldn’t find the ‘Dictionary’ application.

Luckily, I managed to correct these errors by installing Nokia Photo Browser (which is now available in beta version from Nokia Beta Labs website). After I have installed this application, the Search and Dictionary is now working very well.

I just recently updated my 5800xm firmware v11 to v20 and some changes are great!

Remember guys be sure to disable all locks (incl. keys) before you start updating, and update tru your pc via nsu..there’s no need to reset. hope that v21 will be out soon.

i updated to v20 then i had a ‘system error’ for search so hard reset my phone *#7370# from then i m having ‘expired certificate’ for all application before installed even for signed apps from OPDA for my EMEI no. i have tried 3ice the hard reset but no change i m not able to install any app guys PLSS!!! help. yes i have checked app manager to stop certificate check before installing

Inbuilt song that comes with nokia 5800 Xpress music phone have a file name .dcf & I could not open these files after updating my phone.

certain product codes can be updated to v20, but some are not(to v11)

Updated to The version 20.0.012.. The .DCF files wont open.

Any way to solve this problem? Most of the Nokia inbuilt files are with the *.DCF extention.

guys the best thing to do is go to the nearest Nokia Care showroom to update the software on your phone..In this way the inbuilt .dcf files will work and moreover they do it for free under warranty..And those who have already updated the sw themselves to v20 or v21 can still go to the nokia service center and they will do the needful to make the .dcf files play…I had also asked the nokia person if I can talk to their technician so as to what else he did(other than the update) to make these files play but they did not let me talk to them …so i cant post the solution other than ask u to visit thr service center….Hope it helps u….

When i ran the latest update Web, Download! and wouldn’t load. it just crashed the program. I would thoroughly recommend a back up of all the data on the phone before doing this update. I had to do a hard reset to get everything to work on the v20
