Nokia 5800: Firmware v21.0.025 available (with changelog)

After a new firmware was available for a limited number of 5800 Xpress Music only, now v.21 is also available for other product codes finally. Currently, version v.21.0.025 can be downloaded over the air only but I assume that version will be available through the Nokia Software Updater in due course. As the 5800 features User Data Preservation all data and information will stay on your device but it’s never bad to back-up all content. To get this update, simply type *#0000# on your phone, and then choose Options, Check for Updates. Until yet I haven’t found any changes but I expect some bugs have been fixed as well as general improvements. As soon as I discover changes, bugs etc. I’ll update this post.
Changes/Improvements/New features/Bugs I have noticed from v20.0.012 to v21.0.025
- Web browser works faster and better
- Switching from landscape to portrait mode is faster
- Bigger cover art in the music player
- Quicker booting up
- Standby-breathing light
- full screen symbol-list
- when connected to Bluetooth Headset volume is really low

Eesh about time for the Fullscreen Symbols list. The small list it had before was so annoying.
Finally v21 is available in Malaysia. I update my phone using the *#0000# key. The download took less than 2 minutes using WIFI, after which the phone will restart. However, the upgrade procedure from v20.0.012 to v21.0.025 took less than 3 minutes.
What is the language set meant? Mine is 22, but I noticed that yours is 2. What is the different?

i read it in user opinion at gsmarena.com,that they have worked on camera app nd it has improved,they also have fixed some bugs which appeared in v20.

Update is available in Turkey too via OTA ans NSU
I have a phone purchased in India, using in USA. OTA Update worked fine and completed in less than 5 mins on WiFi.
i updated on 6 May 2009 to the version 21 through WIFI. I found some thing is difference (compare with the version 11, This is the first time i update the software) :
1. there is a light appear at the white button (the white one) after key log the phone.
2. in the CONTACT i cann’t swith from contact list to GROUP list. which last time can.
3. in the GREEN button, last version i can switch between miss call, received call and dailled number. BUt in the new version it is unable .
4. the dictionary is only eng-eng. which used to be chinese-eng n eng- chinese.
can anybody help for the 2 and 3 ??
ah..forgot to mention the improvement is good !
looking forward to get the coming version !!

but what is this what ws previously working fine is spoild now
in contact it just shows icon of group list on top but whn we touch there no response
same in message we cant shift to inbox to set sent to delv. report………..
and the same in the call list of miss call,dialed nd recieved
it just shoes the icon but doesnot respond on touch ve have to go back in menu to open that option…
ex-whn we r in indox we cant go to sent items but it shoed the icon on th top but touch has no response,for that we have to goto message window(where new msg, inbox,mailbox.sent,draft…….. are aranged in vertical manner) then we hv to select sent items……
thats it hope soon new update arrives soon with something now or with fixed bugs

I not sure if any other facing this problem also, but my Nokia 5800 XM screen color will change for a while from time to time then back to normal since after I have the firmware updated to v21.0.025.

Devesh: You need to update your phone again, try updating again using NSU. If it does not work, go to Nokia care.
Marine Hoo/cool99_aj: chances are you using using a non Nokia theme. switch to standard and the missing functionalities shud work. I have the latest update and have no problems that you have.

i found why the problem occur. is because the theme disable the function. when i change to another theme (now spiderman 3) the function look all right. i am enjoying the new update software. try it too !!
and for the dictionary. i update and install the other language, chinese. the dict is fine now. even better then the last version.

Just updated my tube to v21, indeed the phone has improve its responsiveness. If you got any problem, I think the best way to do a hard reset using *#7370# or using green-red-camera buttons when powering up the phone. Good work NOKIA!
Available in India also,via phone,not when using NSU.
Not available in South Africa, OTA and NSU does not have it yet
I have a problem after i upgraded to v21 i can’t instal application. Phone says it data sating incorrect.

Just update working really fine
i updated my nokia 5800 from v21 to v22. After update the green button wont bring up the log(call list). While using the shortcut mode in the homescreen, the virtual buttons for the contacts and virtual keyboard doesnt work. Have any of you had the same problems?
hi! i’m having problems with my nokia 5800, the color of my screen changes every now and then…and sometimes it’s totally black! it seems like it’s lights were turned off…what should i do? please help..
USA I run thru pc suite shows me latest as 20.2.014 which is in my phone currently. Any idea can I OTA thru my wifi as want to avoid thru my phone service provider
Hmmm, after I updated from V20 to V21, one of the nicest theme effects disappeared, the fade in and out when rotating the phone from potrait to landscape. Now its just the theme background.
How boring. Same goes for using the camera shortcut button to go to camera. No fade in and out. Hope Nokia will pput that back in thier next update.
This update is not available for NAM phones? I just got my 5800 with v20.0.012 firmware and software updater says no updates found.

after the update..my dialing button is no more accessible on the home screen including the contacts button and my shortcuts dont show anymore..its really annoying and a smaller phone is now more preferable cos of the accebility..everyother thing works fine except that my screen keeps scrambling..please someone shuld help with any solution because the contact and dialing problem started after the update..plz…fizzle2weezle@yahoo.com

tengo un problema que cuando presiono *#0000# y quiero seleccionar buscar actualizaciones me sale que si quiero crear un nuevo perfil de servidor y si digo que no se regresa a la pagina anterior y si digo que si, me sale una lista de datos que tengo que completar como:
servidor:
id de servidor:
direccion de host:
puerto:
etc.
y nose como completar estos datos!! alguien que me ayude porfa de verdad quiero actualizar mi cel por que lo vi en otrs nokias ya actualizados y me parecio super bueno!!! \
