In pretty much all Java games for S60 5th Edition, so for the N97 and the 5800, you do have an on screen keyboard. However, due to this keyboard you do have only half the screen size available and you cannot enjoy the application. It seem that’s just a little problem but it’s really annoying and a lot users don’t know how to fix it. Here’s a small and easy guide how to hide the keyboard.

Open Settings
choose Application mgr.
Hit Installed apps.
Choose your application, for example PC Remote
Click on Options
Go to Suite settings
Navigate down to On-screen keyboard
Set it to Off

That’s all. Now the on-screen keyboard is turned off.

On my white N97, some applications i have installed are Symbian apps (.sis) and they also show the annoying on-screen keyboard. However, when I navigate to turn it off, the option for “Suite settings” does not exist. Any idea on how to still use those apps without half the screen blocked? Thanks. Alain in Boston

A little note:
This is only valid for J2ME aplications – older builds of Opera Mini sufered from this – well Opera Mini wasn’t even supported for 5800… i solved the problem by adding a line to the jad file! – don’t recall how the line was, but this is how developers should do it… to avoid making the user follow this guidelines…

Flash Lite (Piano and Guitar samples from Nokia Foruns) require the developer to add a line in actionscript to make virtual keypad disapear – It would be nice to have the same option that is available for FlashLite apps (they are actually packaged as sis, but since they are developed as flash they don’t have the same awareness as the sis apps)

Symbian aplications can have the keyboard if they require key input… i guess this either detected automatically by the calls done to OS, or there are some flags put in aplication (i know it is possible for the aplication to go fullscreen and such, but given older builds don’t account for keypad missing is possible that keypad appear when a listener for keypad is made – just guessing) – I never did a Symbian apps because certificates issues and IDE is kinda bad, at least to install…

i downloaded flas lite in my 5800 but still flash movies are not running on net except youtube videos if anu body have idea regarding this please tell me why?

Is there another way to do that?Because on my N97 I could do that about a month ago but now I got the appmanager:memory full which is not and also I can’t see all the apps that I have installed on the phone.Do you think is because of too many apps and games on my device?Any suggestions to solve this?Except to get rid of the N97 for the iphone…
