Study: Nokia N97 especially popular among men

The analysis of their sales statistics shows that men especially prefer smartphones whereas women prefer rather music phones. Men indeed like functions such as touch screens and QWERTY keyboards. It is striking, that the Nokia N97 is bought mainly by men. Thus 90 percent of men bought the multimedia flagship. What does this mean? Why is the percentage of women buying the N97 so little? Are men rather interested in technology or is the N97 maybe not as stylish? Share your thoughts!

Girls like sleek, stylish phones….
The N82 was a hit amongst my friends. We loved the multi-tasking ability of Symbian S60, the superb 5MP camera & Xenon flash for party pics…. But most of all we loved how absolutely stylish it is.
The N97 is alright, but it’s not offering anything new.. if we have to spend over $700 for a phone we’d all rather get another Xenon flash phone, or the Nokia N86 for 8Megapixel camera. Even iPhone 3G is a pretty stylish touchscreen option instead of N97.

You don’t have to pay 700$ atleast here is Finland you can buy N97 by paying 27 eur/month (24 month contract)

I don’t even think of switching my trusty N82 with Xenon for a LED-scrap thing like the N97, even if it comes with a bigger screen, keyboard and touchscreen. If I would not need the WLAN, I’d go for a 6220 classic, the only alternative in my opinion.

For 32gb ‘gadget’, the RAM is a disappointment!
For £500 or $700, the current S60 v5 and resistive touchscreen are not a best compared to..
For what Nokia have proven to be, they can create a super phone, but not N97.
I will buy N86 if I want a good camera,
I will buy Iphone if i need a good touchscreen,
I will buy an ‘android enabled’ phone if i want a good interface,
What I mean is, there’s nothing special with N97. For what they can do, for £500, they could put together a much better package.
I hope Nokia is looking at competition. S60v5 is outdated and my iphone friends call it ’satnav’ software. Looking at the facts above, I don’t know where Nokia put themselves in the market in relation to competition. Apart from the design, I don’t see how the phone can appeal to me personally (a n86 fan – for the camera). The only main point is, customers are much analytical and more clever than when Nokia began. Other phone producers are ‘competing’ in the true sense of the word. Iphone have capitalized on the apps store – a phone can now do anything you want, just download an app. Nokia have only two things, Carl Zeiss and a good designer. No substance, really nothing to offer.
Oh la la ,,,,the jealousy is a human nature and especially to say No to a product like this from heaven , but deep in the heart they dream to have it but they can’t have it because they can not afford it so they talk trash about the N97 like a cat when can not have the meet ” says it’s smell bad and don’t want it ,,,,, there is no device out there to come close to N97 ’s specifications and you have to undestand what really N97 can do , so i am going to say to all jealous people go get a life and salute to Nokia for N97 .
I think it’s good to have some sort of perspective on these issues.
If Nokia/ iphone/ htc and other corporations did not respond to criticism, they probably won’t be where they are now. – it’s far from jealousy Zemar.!
There are two groups of customers. Those who would buy a product blindly not knowing exactly what they want and others who break a product down to the nitty gritty. If I never owned a Nokia, I would’ve bought N97. I won’t buy an iphone because in some areas, I would be downgrading (camera, multitasking, battery life etc). My discovery is, people who went and bought N97 as the first Nokia product have not gone through the journey of improvements and knowing capabilities Nokia has. I often tell people to ‘get out more’ when they say there is no device out there coming close to N97. It shows they lack research and knowledge.
The bottom line is all phones can do pretty much what the next device can, but not to the best of the specifications (CPU, RAM, Camera, display res, flash, interface).
As long standing Nokia customers, we want Nokia to improve – therefore we criticize. Actually N97 is very cheap on a 12 month contract ..
