Well, the Nokia N900 isn’t running Symbian but nevertheless I would like to  give you some insights as the N900 will change Nokia’s strategy and also Symbian’s devices. The N900 is a internet-tablet first and a mobile phone second. So we focused the coverage on the new Maemo5 UI and the internet. Regarding the specs it features a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, 32 GB of onboard storage and a 3.5” touch screen. It will be definitely one of the hottest phones of this and next year. However, judge yourself and take a look at the video and the pictures:

Good phone.. but Is this phone too heavy? I think its a little more heavy and bulky than N95… So it gonna be unconfortable to carry in a jean pocket i guess. Wich better? this N900 or N97?

It depends on what you want. If you want to have a good internetbrowser you should go for the N900. However, the N97 is also one of the best phones and in my opinion it looks ways better than the N900, huh? More over, the N97 feels much better in the hand.

Do you think it’s better to get the N900 or the Booklet 3G??

  • http://www.symbianworld.org Norman John

Again, depends on what you need. These two things are two different products

  • Stewie

Yeah I understand that, but a comparison can be made. These two devices have some overlapping features (which is why Nokia like to refer to the N900 as a ‘mobile computer’ etc.).
My main concern is that Nokia might upgrade the N900 with a capacitive screen sometime next year. A netbook might be a better investment right now..

If you want an easily pocketable phone, the N97 nor the N900 will be for you. If you want a portable computer with phone capabilities and need it in a small form factor, the N900 is for you.

Come on, Nokia have an enormous range of handsets. One of them will be perfect for you. If you just want the ‘latest bling handset’ for bragging purposes, then you can hardly complain about whether or not it will fit in your pocket.

The N900 is a bold new step forward for Nokia. They’ve been very coy about it though. It looks like the N97 and there’s less fanfare about the N900 than there has been about the N97. The N900 is entirely different from the N97 in terms of OS and software. It looks like Nokia are experimenting with a way to transition users away from Symbian with as little pain as possible. Maemo should (if the N900 proves successful) trickle down to more mainstream handset offerings, muscling Symbian out of the product range entirely, given time.

When people realise the power of the N900 and (I hope!) Nokia update their Ovi Store to something a little more 21st century than their current offering, we should see a reasonable alternative to the iPhone. 3D capabilites are exceptional on the N900, as is the general computing power. I’m looking forward to its release. I think it will be a turning point not just for Nokia’s populatiry, but for the whole mobile computing market. Maybe not as big a whirlwind as the iPhone’s introduction, but significant nontheless.
