Nokia N97 v2.0 Firmware Q&A | now is your chance to have your say

Since the release of the new 2.0 Firmware for the Nokia N97, forums have been bombarded with people questioning certain aspects of the update. Well, thanks to WOMWorld I have been invited to an exclusive Q&A session with the team behind the new 2.0 Firmware to discuss various issues regarding the new firmware update and the Nokia N97. The virtual Q&A session is taking place on Tuesday 3rd November at 17.30GMT, where I will be questioning Nokia representatives Frank Zillikens, Lead Firmware Developer and Catalin Gheorghiu, a member of the technical team responsible for the 2.0 Firmware. This session is a chance to voice your opinions and ask any questions you like. There is a list of topics being discussed over at The Nokia Review, where I am also urging you to comment with your questions. I will try and ask as many questions as I can so take this opportunity and have your say.

I’m very surprised I have not been invited to this Q&A seeing how I have been reporting bugs to the firmware technical team for quite sometime now.
I will email WOM to find out whats going on. There are unconfirmed reports that V20 has now been pulled from Nokia’s servers too. I’m currently trying to get Official word on this.
I updated my n97 yesterday and found only one new app (vlingo) but no new widgets. When scrolling through my contacts there are no letters telling me where I am. Kinetic scrolling is very nice but you can’t scroll throug the entire contact list with one slide as was told. They should’ve found a better way to type letter “ñ” (for spanish users).
The questions I have are how can we remove Ovi Chat & Vlingo? No one I know uses Ovi so the chat is useless and Vlingo provides nothing new other than voice to message and I am not going to pay for it as it is unstable.
to chd…you have to scroll your contacts using the scroll bar for the letters to show you where you at!
I havent got v2.0 or v1.2 but one question which might be good, is are they working on any way of improving stability? i have to hard rest once a week. Seeing as i am stuck with the phone untill nov next year i would like it to work
I’d like to know why Nokia insist on putting apps on their phones that require a payment before they become useable, and cannot be removed by people who have paid 500 quid for an unbranded phone! When I purchase an unbranded phone, the only software I expect to see on it a are fully functional, working applications, or trail versions that I can delete if I find them trivial or useless to me, not advertisers bloatware, that reminds me how far Nokia have fallen over the previous few years, every time i see the unremovable icon on the menu screen!
Thanks inconfundible you’re right. I gotta say scrolling with the scroll bar is very stable now. Scrolling through contacts is beautifully done, you can scroll really fast with scroll bar and slower with kinectic.
Yesterday I tried to use ovi store but everytime I tried to scroll it opened the link I touched therefore Im forced to use Dpad. Wondering if this is ovi’s issue or what
Id like to know how come I can not update, and Im in the USA. Keeps saying there is an update and there is an internal problem. I would like to Update please.
update is truely amazing i have had my n97 since the day it was released but have not had a chance to use it until this recent v2,0 firmware. atlast my phone just operates like a normal symbian phone should
Hey everyone, I just updated my Nokia N97 to the new firmware 2.0 yesterday. So far it seems great, but just like Chd I cant find the new apps which are said to come with the update, I had to download ESPN, also DJ Playlist and so on, since they did not come with the update. Does this mean my update is incorrectly installed or so? And also, when I start Ovi Maps, why dont I see the welcome screen with the world in the blue background as that representitive from nokia did? If anyone knows about this, please let me know.
YOU HAVE DOWNLOAD THE FIRMWARE FROM PC. IT WILL NOT DO OVER TTHE AIR UPDATE.

I was updating the phone and suddenly it failed at about 140 Mb. now I’m trying to update it again but the NSU keeps giving me this failure message:
Software Update Failed – please check that your device is switched on and connected to your PC and try locating the device again
I even had a hard reset but it keeps failing me
any kind of help would be GREAT!!
i have upgraded my N97 to v2.0 but i find that my phone is not responding as quickly. it hangs on it sown n sometimes reboots too. the usb connection also has problems most of the times & my ram which used to be 20.mb has come down to 10.mb.
what shud i do?
i just knew how to type the ñ at this time it is sym+n you can examine others by using sym+(other letters)
