Finally the folks of Microsoft have released an official Windows Live Messenger (MSN) application for all S60 5th Edition devices. Compared to applications like Fring or Nimbuzz it comes with a better interface and more Windows Live functions. Thus you can see all you contacts details including the status message and image. So, if you own a Sony Ericsson Satio, Samsung Omnia HD, Nokia N97, 5800 XpressMusic or any other S60 5th Edition device you can download it for free.

Hi i’ve downloaded this windows live messenger software through OVI.
I am able to install, but it takes a very long time to install though. However this is not a major problem at all, the real problem is that, after retrieving personal settings, the messenger download contacts. The bad thing is that when the bar almost reach the end , it stopped, while still retrieving contacts. it doesnt even move after a long 5 hours… may i know if anyone can solve my issue?
I downloaded throug here. Can’t install it. When the progress bar is at the very end it says installation cancelled. Now I have a hotmail place at the messages as it was an inbox when i go in there’s a message but when i touch it, I get thrown out to the homescreen
I also am with this problem in the installation will be someone who can help us?

It doesn’t correctly install on a Sony Ericsson Satio! It pretends it does. There’s a script in the sisx file. From what I see there’s a parameter that checks the brand of your phone. If it’s not a Nokia it skips the actual file installs. Hence the phone tells you it’s installed but it’s not working because the program files were never copied to the phone. Can anyone confirm they got this installed on there Satio?
You’re right mark. I can confirm that is the case. I knew straight away it hasn’t installed properly as i got “installation complete” within milliseconds.
I do not understand what is your problem it worked perfectly on my NOKIA 5530 XPRESSMUSIC….

Why so? What happens?
In the pkg, there’s an IF statement that installs it if it’s a nokia phone and does nothing if it’s any other.
I dont know, I downloaded it, installed it and when it was about to finish it said cancelled but now there is a hotmail account in messages, when I go in there is a message but when I touch it, It sends me to the homescreen

It worked fine on my N97 – no problems at all
Try to install WLM on the phone memory. It takes awfully long when installing on the E drive.
I have try to install Windows Live Messenger on my SE Satio, but when the install file is finish, I can´t see the MSN program fil on my phone, anybody know what I should do?

i mean it installs onto your fone but its size is 0 kb
This doesn’t work for i8910 omnia hd. installs a 1kb file. No app. Anyone know why?

Not working for N97 mini. I have exactly the same problem as reply #3. It installs OK, but when trying to download the personal settings (step 3/3) the progress bar hangs at 90%, no matter how long you wait.
Samsung Omnia HD users: found Windows Live Messenger at http://gallery.mobile9.com/f/1108047/ And so far it looks like it’s working. (It looks to be a Chinese (?) version, but that’s not a hinderence in any way).

I installed on N97 but it cannot connect. Where do you set the username and password anyway?

Hi! I really don`t know how to install Live Messanger on my Nokia N97 phone. I downloaded it, and tried to install it but for some reason the installation cancels after some point. Can someone help me? Thanks
it works fine on my nokia 5530 but sometimes it gives an error ” the wireless network is not available , the messenger is to re establish a connection” even though the connection is working fine

Por si le sirve a alguien yo tengo el 97 mini y el messenger no me funcionaba a traves del wifi solo me funcionaba con datos de red del operador
asi que me puse a buscar y encontre uno que si funciona y es original hotmail aqui

Tis version of WLM works very very well in my NK 5800XM!!! I am using the v50, so i think a upgrade for other none v50 is necessary to install this.

delete your contacts from ur pc,it must have nearly 100 contacts.that can solve the problem i didnt try it but i know that mobiles can download limited contacts
