Nokia 5800 XpressMusic updated to v40.0.005

Any idea why your version number is so much higher than mine?
I seem to be stuck on version v 21

Don’t worry, it isn’t available over the air in Poland neither. I suppose we have to wait a day or two…

In India, You need to wait, because V31 firmware is also not reached here, so can’t expect V40 so early.

But on the nokia site i checked my product code this V40 is available for me should i go for it ?

this one is the best update ..aftr downloading this u will love working on 5800…
i downloaded through nokia software updater…
nd nokia software updater does not work on windows 7…..so try it using vista or xp

I´m checking it every day, but there´s only V31 available.

MAX just connect ur device to pc with usb and run nokia software updater…..
on windos vista or xp….becoz software updater does not work on windows 7….nd if u have windows 7 then download OVI suit nd update ur device using OVI suit….
note:this update is available in India i have no idea about other countries

u can get nokia software updater nd nokia OVI suit both from nokia.com
just install it nd then connect ur 5800 nd update ur 5800

Just updatet my v31.0.008 to v40.0.005.
(Changing product code from 0578314 to 0586819 using NSS)
No positive changes for me.

Opera Mobile now starts slower than before.
Phone seems to be slower than before. (Hardreset done)
Dont need keyboard to switch in vertical mode. Makes no sense to me. Makes typing slower while waiting for switching to horizontal mode.

Kinetic Scrolling is nice but not as useful as expected.

If possible i would downgrade back to 31.0.008.

I also updated my phone to the 40.0.005 today morning via ovi suit installed in my PC (Window 7) .
kinetic scrolling is good, will try 5530 theme tonight.
but I dont know whether it is for the updation, the phone has restarted sevaral time after the update. I am from India.

I had updated the ovi suite for Windos 7 prior to the firmware update of my phone.

why here in the philippines the v 40.0.005? is not yet here?? where can i downlod it? even in nokia update only the v 30? pls help me…

still camera needs improvement no change in camera quality still after updating to v40

during day time its best but as sun goes down pic quality of this phone goes…..
other then this fault this is the best phone till day…

i more prob i faced is with the cover nokia provides with 5800…it just sucks all shine of phone on regular us…whn i bought it new it ws so shiny but i started using cover after a month and after few days i found that my phone has lost its shine…it just looks rough now….ya but still aftr v4 update its fun operating it….

version 40.0.005 is not available for me in the Netherlands.
Is there anybody who has the same problem? Or does somebody know when it is going to be available for me?

You need to change de produc code for one location were its available and than update it. After that, you can go back to the old product code. And there´s something very important: the update is for the RM-356!! If you try do update with another RMversion you can have serious problems. To know wich version is yours, type *#0000#. I can help by email.

I am from Pakistan and the update is available here, so i upgraded to the new firmware. But after the update i started facing some problems, one of which is that whenever i try to create new profile or to personalize a profile, nothing shows up. I select the personalize option and nothing happens. creating some real problems for me in that regard.

I tried the soft reset. but that didnt help either. can any one tell me how to Hard Reset it?

In addition to this i also think that battery consumption has increased and my battery is draining out lot faster than it used to.

Press green, red and camera button while switching the phone on for hard reset.

after upgrading to v40, the voice commands won’t work. also it keeps aying that unable to install a sis file installer being used.. had to do factory reset and load all my backups to fix it…
overall GUI is much better.. more space, I think..
kinetic scolling is responsive..
new homescreen is awesome.. too bad kinetic deosn’t work for main menu.. but we can’t have it all, maybe it won’t able to handle it..
anyways..still loving my 5800

So, everything works!
The “snooze” and “stop” buttons from the alarmclock looks very good but dont work!
I can push stop or snooze but nothing happens!

Can someone check this?!?!

Oh, i found the “trick”

You have to pull the button like the iPhone keylock!

From wheather i get Cell Info display.

I have updated my Nokia 5800 V31.0.008 to V40.0.005 successfully.
But in Home Screen theme when i select Shortcuts bar.
The Set up e-mail not appears.
But in earlier Version it was there.

Is it happens with you also plz reply…………

I am from the Philippines also and I have successfully updated my firmware to v40. However, I have voided my warranty because I changed my product code. You can do the same. My 5800 is the one with the gray trim so I used this product code: 0591826

Other product codes are:
RED: 0559476
BLUE: 0559950

recently i have updated my version to v40-0-005 , the music player has got hello of problems . given a try to forward or backward the player gets struck , no way to exit teh window either . you HAVE TO RESTART the mobile . I wonder when the fix is available for this .

I updatet the blue version 356 with the Product Code of a Navi Edition.
Now getting GPS position is damn fast (20 seconds). Befor it took up to 10 minutes.
But on the other hand i think batterylife is much decreased.

I randomly checked my firmware updates and low and behold there was one! Had no idea… So I downloaded it, installed and overall, it seemed to run smoothly. Until the next morning when the alarm went off. I cannot figure out the slide to unlock feature that appears when a call comes in or alarm clock goes off. I have been late to work three times because of the unlocking slide crap, it turned off the alarm and didn’t snooze. I had no problems with the way it used to be and cannot find an option to turn off the touch feature – slide to unlock. I may have to buy an alarm clock because I can’t rely on my phone. And the screen does not shut off when it’s plugged into the charger. I can’t figure out how to change this either…. HELP! Suggestions welcome.

I’ve updated 2 weeks ago and since then the phone restarts (crash) almost once a day =/

if you’re having difficulty with the alarm, here’s a better solution:

once your alarm goes off (whether it be the calendar or the clock), you can just “flip” your phone so that it faces down and it will automatically snooze (depending on your snooze settings). if it goes off again, flip it right side up and flip it down again…

VERY USEFUL FEATURE because you no longer have to click any buttons!!!

activate it now:
1. settings–>phone–>sensor settings–>turning control
2. just “x” check everything

the best part is: it will work for phone calls too! imagine you are in a closed-door meeting with important clients and you put your phone on the table…. suddenly it rings! you no longer have to panic because all you need to do is to flip your phone so that it faces down and it will automatically go silent!!!

Just hard reset the phone and everything will be fine.

*#7370# (hard reset) or Hold the Call button + End Call button and + Camera button while switching on the phone.
