    thx 4 these’s reasons cause at last! am loosing my hype 4 buying the new iphone4.iphone4 is nothing compared to nokian8 specs! But i hope they support n8 with meaningful updates,variety of games just like how apple supports it iphone.

    @khalid

    Cool! N8 also will be playing divx/xvid files so wathching movies will be great.

  3. mike says:

    what exactly gives you the confidence that Nokia will stand behind the software that runs on the N8, rather than making you buy N8.1 if you want a more stable, better featured OS?

  4. Jade Bryan says:

    @mike

    Hi Mike. If I understand you correctly then here’s my answer, I think the OS can give me wide support in terms of compatibilities for computers, applications, customisations and it will be fast for sure.

  5. mike says:

    no, i meant that Nokia will not add significant new features to S^3 or fix too many bugs in it. instead development focus would be on S^4 and devices running it. further that S^4 will not be available on the N8.

    look what happened historically with S60v3.1 to S60v3.2, for example with E71 vs E72.

  6. Gilly says:

    mike words are totally correct S^3 is nothing but correcting mistakes of S^1.. Anyway im not yet impressed with iphone 4 bla bla’s so N8 gonna be my next date:-)

  7. Jade Bryan says:

    Actually the Symbian^1 was not the big problem. It was the hardware of Nokia. Limiting the software capabilities. See the N8 now and Symbian^3, there’s no big changes on the UI for S^3 and I’m sure N97s users would notice that. But the thing here is that Nokia is solving the main drawbacks on the phone, the hardware.

  8. DIM says:

    Is the Quick Office application in the N8 a Document Editor or just a Viewer? ‘Coz I won’t wait for the N8 if it’s only a Viewer, despite all the other cool stuff!

  9. Jade Bryan says:

    @DIM
    Based on the specs of N8 from Nokia site, there is an office document editor. I’m not sure if it is for Quick office app.

  10. mike says:

    i disagree, i’ve had several symbian phones, most recently an E61 followed by an E71. i had nothing but problems. until Nokia realizes that customers need consistent improvement of software over the lifetime of the device, i won’t be spending more money with them.

    just look at what apple and google/htc/samsung/etc are doing with ios and android.

  11. mike says:

    one more point in hardware differences between E71 and E72.

    the latter has a 3.5mm headphone jack, that technology was certainly available when the E71 was released. further, why doesn’t the E71 have usb-charging? yes, the CPU also saw a minor speed bump.

    i develop software for a living, i see no technical reason why S60 sp2 can’t be made available on older devices. i imagine that Nokia has a HAL that the OS uses to simplify development across multiple platforms. it can’t be much harder than a recompile. it’s not like they test their updates anyway.

    if you want more details about the issues i’ve come across, see http://unusability.soup.io/

    Symbian 4 can be installed on N8 later on, because it’s an Open-Sourse now.
    Go to nokia blog and check it up. User can own customize it to install to N8 and older phone like N97, 5800 and so on.
