Nokia released new Firmware Updade v.500.21.009 for Nokia E71 (with Changelog)

a65459a132nsu.png 250x250 Nokia released new Firmware Updade v.500.21.009 for Nokia E71 (with Changelog)It seems as if Nokia is pushing out updates for several phones currently. After the Nokia N97 has been upated to version 22.0.110 now Nokia also released a new firmware update for the Nokia E71. Firmware version 500.21.009 is a minor update an brings, as you can read in the changelog, no mind blowing features or changes. In order to get v.500.21.009 you have to use the NSU. Firmware updates become available for different device variants  and markets at different times.  So do not worry if it  doesn’t become available immediately. Since the E71 does not sport User Data Preservation you need to back up all your data. Otherwise all your data will be wiped away!

Changes from v410.21.010 to v500.21.009:

•    Maps 3.03 Lite which has Free Navigation support
•    Music Player upgrade
•    Quick Office v6.2 which has Office 2007 support
•    Ovi Store upgraded to 1.6.0.18 and Download! Removed
•    Lotus Notes traveler v8.5.1 -> Localization support is present only for 10 languages.

•    CMCC Java application download corrected
•    Fix provided for accessing a link that has appended space characters

•    Fix provided for selecting desired mailbox when multiple mailboxes are configured

QWERTY KEYBOARD
•    Key mapping issues fixed

MESSAGING
•    Nokia IM chat: Localization support provided for Malay and Indonesian languages

    Firmware v.500.21.009 is not yet available for any product code, according to NAVIFIRM.

    I wonder why they always do this… announce a firmware releases and then it really comes 1-2 weeks later.

    Hello

    There is a serious problem or bug introduced in this new firmware , that when we dial a number, on the right hand down corner , End call is showing up instead of Loudspeaker option that was available in the previous firmwares.

    This option was quite handy , now when the number rings then this loudspeaker option shows up , before the called is initiated

    Anyone knows how to resolve this problem or how to downgrade back to 410 firmware

    I am facing a bug in the Quickoffice that got installed with the new firmware 500.21.009 on a E71. When launching a search in two large .txt files (3,6MB and 2,8MB) after a while the program returns to the select file menu.

    I updated to this firmware today. Product code 0567045 (EURO1).
    No problems so far, eveything working fine. Cotacts working as before, Quickoffice also. Loudspeaker option appears when call begins to ring.

    HELP PLEASE!!!
    I have the most up to date version of Ovi on my PC. It checked for an update and updated itself. However, it won’t update my Nokia E71 North America from v100.07.76. This is driving me nuts. Can someone help? Please.

    Can I download the firmware file and load it manually? At this point I don’t understand why it isn’t working. Ovi updated but it says “no new updates” for my phone…BAH!

    Please specify if you have a Network branded E71-1 or a Direct from Nokia handset. Now I do not have the above information therefore I will provide you with the information I know based on the supplied information.
    A few months ago there was a few ways to update the firmware on Nokia handsets. One was to visit Nokia website directly and download a small firmware update file. That option has died. The second method was to visit you Network website. There I have seen, at least on Vodafone UK website, information about availability of updates specific to your handset.

    Yea, the loudspeaker thing is killer. I liked to be able to switch immediately go to loudspeaker even before the phone starts ringing. I would NOT suggest upgrading to this firmware as I believe that is a “deal-breaker” option.

    I just updated my Nokia phone E71 with 500.21.009. It is working fine. It has fixed the bug for incoming/outgoing call hang ups for Sewree area , Mumbai, India.Thanks Nokia !

    Another bug here. Keypad auto lock will not stay turned off when the phone lock (password) is turned on.

    Previously, I could just type my password to enter the phone when the keypad auto lock period was set to none, and the phone auto lock period was set to one minute.

    After the upgrade, I must first unlock my phone with * + menu, then enter the password. This despite the fact that autolock keypad is set to none. Annoying.

    Don’t upgrade.
