Nokia N97 mini signal 300x227 Apple demonstrates Nokia N97 Mini Loses Signal, too

As you all know, the new Apple iPhone 4 has some reception problems. After Nokia have made fun of this problem by publishing an article on their official blog, telling that you can hold your Nokia how you want without loosing any signal strength, Apple now strikes back and have released the following video:

Apple shows that the Nokia N97 mini dropped from 7 bars to 2 bars when held in a way that attenuated the signal. Do they want to justify that the iPhone 4 isn’t the only device with this issue? What do you think of this video?

This misses the point. The real issue is whether or not the calls/data/web connection is lost. Apple admits that their algorithm for calculating how many bars to show was in error. The bars are only that…the result of a math calculation intended to convert signal strength to something visual…they may, or may not, reflect what the connection actually does. All I know is that my family counts on my N97mini for a connection when our iPhone drops out.

este video nadie sabe en que condiciones lo hicieron, los reportes de fallas en iphone 4 son hechos por usuarios comunes que directamente pierden señal sin poder comunicarse. esto es tirar mierda

I can reproduce the exact same behavior on my N97Mini. Signal drops from full to 1 bar. But I agree with Mike. Question is does the call/data/web connection drop or not when that happens? That I haven’t tested.

Signal attenuation is a common problem, that all cell phones suffer from, in different degrees (including the iPhone 4). But the newest Apple’s iPhone, in addition to signal attenuation, has a design flaw that consists in the possibility of short-circuit of its external antenas. Apple is trying to make people believe that iPhone 4 problem is exact the same of other manufactures, which isn’t. SIGNAL ATTENUATION ≠ ANTENNA SHORT-CIRCUIT

This is kind of thing that makes yo feel sorry for the iUsers.
Manufacturer is like a child shouting “they did it too”
That doesn’t fix anything. Still many i4 users will happily buy this explanation
