You can now update your X6 fw from v20 to v21.0.004 which will give you boost to the music performance, updated web browser, added Shazam application for 30days trial, improvements in Ovi Store and Ovi Maps, and an overall enhanced performance to device usage.

You can update the firmware through OTA (over-the-air), NSU (Nokia Software Updater) or Nokia Ovi Suite. As the X6 supports UDP (user data preservation), it is still recommended to back up all data before plunging to an update.

The updates is not just for the X6 but also to the other music-centric phones, Nokia X2 and X3.

Too bad this X6 FW update did not include homescreen widgets. Frankly, I see the venerable 5800XM with custom firmware from PNHT, which has successfully ported the C6 FW to the 5800, as superior to the X6…even though the X6 has a capacitive screen and better camera. Nokia really needs to bring this capability to the X6, it’s made my 5800XM a much better phone. It’s faster than original FW (5800′s 51.0.006) and uses system resources more frugally (i.e. more free RAM and C:drive).

Try to update through OTA or over the air (Software Update) which you can find in your application folder.

OR you could also download the Nokia Software Updater at http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update for your PC and connect your X6.

Don’t forget to back up data.
