Ovi Store 2 Nokia N8 300x221 Tutorials: Download Free Apps from Ovi Store Directly to your ComputerWe got a very good tip from Iain of doitdifferent that could benefit Symbian and Maemo/MeeGo users in taking full advantage of the Ovi’s offering at their store…most likely the non-WiFi smartphones. The tip was all about getting direct downloads of Ovi Store content to your PC/Mac or other computers without having to connect through 3G or WiFi with your phone.

Please refer the step-by-step guide below:

Note* This is not a hack just a tip. Plus only free apps can be downloaded.

  1. Visit Store.Ovi.com and Sign in
  2. Choose your device in order to show the available content for it
  3. Search for apps or games that you want
  4. Edit the URL by adding /download to the end of the content ID number.
  5. Install it

Example of current url  http://store.ovi.com/content/61776 then change it to http://store.ovi.com/content/61776/download
Try this now to Nokia Battery Monitor http://store.ovi.com/content/61776/download

Update: For Non .sisx, .sis, and .jar .wgz application…please refer to this link http://www.xssaccess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=58

    1. Open the .dm file in Notepad++ (use only Notepad++ as others corrupt the file).
    2. Remove the first 4 lines.
    3. Save as .sis or . sisx depending what it has before .dm in it’s file name.

when you are done editing by removing the top 4 lines. then ‘save as’ the edited file instead of just ‘saving’ it. this will create a new file with automatic .sis extension.
all the best and this i have personally done many times for my nokia c7.
