I am pretty positive that you all know how Nokia is naming most of their devices. They are using four-digit numbers like 6210 or 5000.
There is no doubt that with so many devices on the market today and only rearranged digits to represent them, one can easily get confused with which is which. Newer devices with lesser numbers may also misguide consumers when searching for the latest handset. This issue was also confirmed in a recent poll conducted by Nokia.
This is the very reason why Nokia has decided to rethink its ’series’ branding, and put more meaning into naming its handsets. Nokia’s ’series’ brand will now begin to represent a clearer classification of devices and segment solution based priority in handsets more prominently. Read the rest of this entry »
Recently the official Symbian site launched a new webpage; countown.symbian.org, which, you guessed it, is some sort of cryptic countdown. It usded to be titeld 108 and changed to 49 now. What these numbers mean, well no one is quite sure. There is also a message in the source code of the web page reading “if you’re looking for a secret, here’s one: 108.” What do you think it could be? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so drop a comment below or join in the conversation on twitter with hash tag #symbiancountdown.
As far as we can tell this countdown refers to a major announcement
This refers to a major announcement coming soon, so please keep your eyes peeled.
Shortcut keys are generally designed to speed up the way we do things, with the shift and FN keys allowing multiple uses for a single key. There are many shortcuts available on the Nokia E72 which can be used in many different applications. In a previous post we introduced Nokia’s secret codes (which is definitely worth a look if you haven’t already seen it). Now we’re delivering you most of the Nokia E72 shortcut keys. The Nokia E72 is the successor of the award winning Nokia E71, which has been sold more than 10 million times globally. However, does the E72 have the potential to be a worthy successor to the Nokia E71? What are the pros on cons of upgrading to this device? Well sit back and lets take a look.
During Nokia World 2009 Nokia announced that they are soon going to splash out a new 2.0 Firmware update for the Nokia N97. This update is definitely worth the mention as it is bringing a host of new features, many improvements and several bug fixes, that will change the way you use your device. The update is due to roll out either mid/end of October and will initially be available via NSU (Nokia Software Update). The new firmware will then later appear over the air via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). Read the rest of this entry »
The Nokia N86 8MP has a fully equipped camera with a fantastic 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens, automatic shutter and variable aperture, and could by far be the best cameraphone on the market to date. However users still continue to complain about the lack of a Xenon flash and regard the Dual LED to be insufficient. A Xenon flash does provide brighter and crisper images, however the 3rd generation Dual LED flash on the Nokia N86 8MP need not be under estimated. So I decided to put it to the test against the Nokia N97 to see what how much the new Dual LED has improved. Read the rest of this entry »
If the images of the Nokia N900 are too boring for you and you want to see what it’s like to play with, we have three very nice videos for you after the jump. The device may be a little chunky but just take a look at what it’s packing under the hood. Remember the N900 is also equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, a full QWERTY keyboard and runs on the Maemo 5 operating system.
Today Nokia announced the 5730 XpressMusic on the virtual event “Your Music Player Is Ringing”. The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is Nokia’s first music-optimized device to offer a full QWERTY keyboard – ideal for quick messaging. The heart of this music device is the Homescreen for XpressMusic, providing access and dynamic information on music, people, games, email and calendar.
As you may know there are many codes which can be entered in the home-screen of your Nokia S60 device, e.g. to see what firmware your device has. Because there are so many of those, and not everyone does even know of them, we decided to write this guide for you.
Some of the following codes can reset your phone or change settings, so please make sure to know what you’re doing with entering a code – there’s a description below every code, read it first! Besides the following codes we also give standard knowledge like how to open the Task-manager or switch the profile in an instance.
After all the firmware updates in the last days the E51 finally gets also a new firmware. The new firmware is version 200.34.36 and is available for some, but not all, product codes. Unfortunately it doesn’t bring FP3 or other big changes but it does prevent ROM modding. Devices with the product code 0546184 should get the update for sure.
