Stuff Magazine Review The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro

The guys over at Stuff Magazine have got their hands on the Sony Ericsson Vivas and Vivas Pro. The Vivaz Pro is the QWERTY keyboard version of the Vivaz and it still retains all the features of its sibling, barring a few key differences. The Vivas has an 8.1MP camera whereas the Vivaz Pro packs in 5.1MPs and therefore a smaller sensor to make way for it’s slide out keyboard. The Vivaz Pro is also 2mm thicker, but the best part however, is they both pack 720p HD video mode, putting it up against the likes of Samsung’s i8910 HD. Julian Whitehorn gives a quick overview of the Vivas Pro in his hands-on demo after the break. Read the rest of this entry »

fa2f90cfded5491497dba7176ca77182 OtterBox Commuter Series for the Nokia E71

As some of you are probably aware, I currently use the Nokia E71 and its slim design is one of the key aspects that’s kept me clutching on to it. Recently I’ve been searching for a decent case to protect my device but have been worried that it may add too much bulk and therefore ruin the aesthetics of the device. I looked at quite a few but one that caught my eye was the OtterBox Commuter Series for the Nokia E71. Now although it’s quite rugged for my needs, I thought it was pretty cool and thought I’d give it a mention. Check out my thoughts after the break… Read the rest of this entry »

31b1e8223ae84c1bbdf393e64a081032 The Atomic Pico Bluetooth Dongle Review

Going a little off topic, I wanted to take a look at some connectivity tools and the best solutions out there. Connecting your device to a PC or laptop is an essential aspect for mobile users, whether its to back up your data, or simply send content to or from your PC. Most computers offer built in bluetooth technologies, however its usually at an extra cost or in a higher spec model, which again means more cost. So the other option is to buy a USB bluetooth adapter or dongle to enable this connectivity measure on your computer. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently I was lucky enough to receive a trial for the Nokia E75 messaging device, so I thought I’d share some of my thoughts, along with a few comparison shots with the Nokia N86 8MP. 29082009192 by you.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone is one of the latest “budget” touchscreen devices to hit the market, and i managed to get ahold of one from “Carphone Warehouse”, as not only has this phone recently been released in the UK – but it is exclusive (for the moment) to Carphone warehouse in the UK, so to celebrate its arrival i decided to share my thoughts  about the phone. Rafe from All About Symbian has put together a great video review of the new Nokia E55. The E55 is supposed to be the upgrade to the Nokia E71, with a half-qwerty keypad making it more compact. The E55 has built-in active noise reduction, a massive 31 days of standby, 3.2MP camera with panoramic mode and is only 9.9mm thick.

As you all know I’ve had the Nokia N86 8MP for about a month now, and I’m currently working on the final part of the review. However today I want to share some of the interesting features I found regarding the built in motion sensor. A few well acknowledged features include the ability to auto-rotate the screen, use the device as a control during gaming, and of course, silence calls and snooze alarms, by simply flipping the device over during the alert. However, whilst browsing the internet on the N86 at night, I found a few nifty little features.

6f07960dad0a47479705884c55129562 Nokia N86 8MP Review Part 2 Software

In Part One of the Nokia N86 8MP Review I focused on the hardware and build quality of the handset. Today I intend to delve deep inside the N86 exploring the software aspect of the device. Just to quickly recap, the Nokia N86 8MP is Nokia’s new flagship camera-phone. The device sports 8GB of built in storage as well as a microSD card slot, and has all the now ’standard’ features including Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and a Digital Compass. The N86 has a built in FM transmitter too, along with the extraordinary 8 megapixel, Carl Zeiss wide-angle lens, setting itself way above it’s competition. Read the rest of this entry »

baa5d91312274563b7d676cbc97277ba Nokia N86 8MP Review Part 1 Hardware

Nokia is finally catching up in the megapixel race and have released an 8 megapixel smartphone, proudly crowned, the Nokia N86 8MP. When the N86 first surfaced at Mobile World Congress it arrived as the Nokia N85 8MP and for good reason in fact. It is pretty much an N85 with a few tweaks here and there, and of course, an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss wide-angle lens with variable aperture. Nokia were quick to rename the device and the Nokia N86 8MP saw it’s release alongside the Nokia N97 earlier last month.
