Today Nokia and Qt released the Beta version of Qt 4.6.0. Qt is a cross-platform application and UI framework. Using Qt, one can write applications once and deploy them across desktop, mobile and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code. The beta runs on S60 3rd Edition as well as 5th Edition devices. I’ve installed it on my Nokia N97 and it looks really impressive. The focus of this release has been to stabilize the Symbian port, as well as adding a backend for the Phonon multimedia library enabling simple audio and video playback. The “Colossus” beta-release contains QtCore, QtTest, QtGui, QtNetwork, QtScript, QtSvg, QtWebKit, QtXML and Phonon as well as documentation and examples and demo.

Do you remember games like Sonic The Hedgehog? More than 10 years ago games by Sega were really popular and I believe they still are. If you would like to play these games on your S60 handset today is your lucky day. I’ve found an emulator which allows you to play .smd and other files. Smd is a rom file for the sega megadrive. This tutorial works on both, S60 3rd and 5th edition handsets. However, as you need keys to control the game the Nokia N97 is the only S60 5th Edition device which you can use. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic has been announced silently. Nevertheless, Nokia don’t need to hide the 5630 XpressMusic as it offers some nice features. Let’s take a clover look at the device.

A few days ago Comes With Music started finally in Germany. To put in a nutshell, Comes With Music is a music-flatrate which allows you to download more than 5 million songs from your mobile and PC within a year. After the year expires you can keep all downloaded songs and listen to them on your phone or on your computer. First partner to provide Comes With Music devices  in Germany is mobilcom-debitel, further operators to follow soon.

Last week I announced that Nokia’s Comes With Music service will be available in May. Now, I do have a certain date. The music-flatrate which allows you to download more than 5 million songs for a whole year will be available on May the 4th. First partner is mobilcom-debitel, further operators to follow soon. The first devices which will come with Comes With Music are the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (510 Euro), Nokia 5630 XpressMusic (379 Euro) Nokia N79 (479 Euro) and the Nokia N95 8GB (589 Euro). So, the CWM service costs about 15 Euro per month which is indeed a good price for as much music as you like. Nokia Germany will push the service and try to bring Comes With Music in everybody’s mouth using TV-Spots, promotions and more.

Comes with Music fulfils our dream to give consumers all the music they want, wherever they want it, while rewarding the artists who create it.”

Soon Nokia Comes With Music will be available in Germany. Nokia Comes With Music (CWM) is a music-flatrate which allows you to download more than 5 million songs for a whole year. You can download as much songs as you want and download the songs either to your PC or straight to your Nokia device. More over you can keep the songs for ever. Currently the 5800 XpressMusic, 5630 XpressMusic, the N95 8GB and the Nokia N79 will be the first devices to come with a CWM subscription. Today Nokia announced the 5630 Xpress Music. As the name already says it’s a conventional music phone, runs on S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, features a 3.5mm audio jack, dedicated music keys and comes with a 4GB microSD card out of the box. More over it features a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back as well as the ‘Say and Play’ function, Wi-FI, 3G and more. The 5630 is just 12mm thin and so it’s the slimmest N-Gage device yet. We can expect the 5630 to be available in the second quarter of 2009 at a price point of 199€ (before the usual taxes and subsidies).
