Snowboard Hero is, as the name already hints, a snowboard game with severl game-modes. You can choose between speedrun, freestyle and a race. Basically, it is supposed to run on S60 3rd Edition devices only, however, it’s also possible to run it on touch-enabled devices. In this case you would have a onscreen-keyboard to control the game. If you own a Nokia N97 or a N97 Mini you can disable the onscreen-keyboard by going to settings. Then open the App Manager,go to installed apps and find the game. Finally go to options, suite settings, on-screen keyboard and than change to OFF.
Download the game to your Nokia N96, Sony Ericsson Satio or your Samsung Omnia I8910 HD and enjoy the game.

If you want uninstall multiple apps on a S60 device you can do it only one after the other, not several at once. This is without a doubt a pain and takes some time. With BatchUninstall, developed by Think Change, you can uninstall multiple application at once. You just need to select all apps you want to uninstall and click ‘Delete Selected’. Batch Uninstall works on all S60 5th and 3rd edition devices.

Skype have finally launched an official Skype application for S60 3rd Edition. The limited beta application runs on all S60 3rd Edition devices and can be downloaded here.
Just like the desktop version if you can call your sykpe contacts, write IMs, sent files and much more. It looks and works pretty good. Skype for Symbian works over Wifi or 3G data connection. We recommend having a unlimited data plan when using 3G connection.
Skype for Symbian supports:
- Free Skype-to-Skype calling
- Call phones with Skype credits or subscription
- Receive calls on your Online Number
- Instant Messaging
- Group conversations
- File sending and receiving Read the rest of this entry »

The Nokia E71, E66 and E63 have all received a new firmware update taking them to V400.21.013. Neither devices support FOTA (Firmware-over-the-air) therefore to get this new firmware you will need to plug yourself into a PC and use either NSU (Nokia Software Updater) or the Ovi Suite. Remember neither handset supports UDP (User Data Preservation) either so make sure you do a full backup before updating your device. Provisional changelog after the jump. Another time Tehkseven has been creative and created nice Maemo like theme. It’s available for S60 5th Edition (N97, 5800 XpressMusic) and S60 3rd Edition devices (N96, N85). If you like it go ahead and download it.

As some of you are probably aware, I currently use the Nokia E71 and its slim design is one of the key aspects that’s kept me clutching on to it. Recently I’ve been searching for a decent case to protect my device but have been worried that it may add too much bulk and therefore ruin the aesthetics of the device. I looked at quite a few but one that caught my eye was the OtterBox Commuter Series for the Nokia E71. Now although it’s quite rugged for my needs, I thought it was pretty cool and thought I’d give it a mention. Check out my thoughts after the break… Read the rest of this entry »

Today Nokia and Qt released the Beta version of Qt 4.6.0. Qt is a cross-platform application and UI framework. Using Qt, one can write applications once and deploy them across desktop, mobile and embedded operating systems without rewriting the source code. The beta runs on S60 3rd Edition as well as 5th Edition devices. I’ve installed it on my Nokia N97 and it looks really impressive. The focus of this release has been to stabilize the Symbian port, as well as adding a backend for the Phonon multimedia library enabling simple audio and video playback. The “Colossus” beta-release contains QtCore, QtTest, QtGui, QtNetwork, QtScript, QtSvg, QtWebKit, QtXML and Phonon as well as documentation and examples and demo.

To download Colossus straight to your phone point your phone’s browser to qt.nokia.com/phonedemo. For best performance we recommend to install in Phone memory.

Have you been wondering why there are more and more people talking to their phones? Giving their devices orders like: “send SMS to Norman, message hello how are you?” or “open File Manager.” Vlingo Corporation has launched their voice application, Vlingo, which allows user to instantly send a text messages and emails, call contacts, search the Web, create a “note to self” and much more, simply by speaking to your compatible S60 device. The service is available for free but can also be upgraded to a Plus Version. However, I’ll come back to both these versions later on. First I want to explain how to get Vlingo and how it works. The Nokia E75 comes with the same 3.2MP autofocus camera as the Nokia E71, and so I thought I’d put the two to the test to see which prospers. Both devices come with a single LED flash and the E75 has a focal length on 3.7mm compared to the 3.8mm of the E71. Other than that single millimeter the specs are completely identical, so the results should be quite interesting. Read the rest of this entry »

It seams to be a good week for Nokia owners as this time the Nokia Eseries range receive firmware updates. Firmware v300.21.012 is now available through Nokia Software Updater for both the Nokia E71 and E66. Considering these devices were on firmware version 210.21.006 we can expect a substantial update. The E51 also received an update earlier this week to version 400.34.011. Unfortunately no changelogs have been released on any of these updates so please comment on changes you experience.
