For all you Formula1 fans I’ve found the official Formula1 application. This application displays information supplied to the teams from every session of the Grand Prix weekend. Thus you always have the latest results, stats and all information you need. Point your browser either to mobile.formula1.com/download to download this freeware application or download it straight on SymbianWorld. This application works on all S60 devices like the Nokia N97, X6, N95, E90 or the Sony Ericsson Satio.

Snowboard Hero is, as the name already hints, a snowboard game with severl game-modes. You can choose between speedrun, freestyle and a race. Basically, it is supposed to run on S60 3rd Edition devices only, however, it’s also possible to run it on touch-enabled devices. In this case you would have a onscreen-keyboard to control the game. If you own a Nokia N97 or a N97 Mini you can disable the onscreen-keyboard by going  to settings. Then open the App Manager,go to installed apps and find the game. Finally go to options, suite settings, on-screen keyboard and than change to OFF.

Download the game to your Nokia N96, Sony Ericsson Satio or your Samsung Omnia I8910 HD and enjoy the game.

Good 3D games for the S60 5th Edition platform are rather rare. However, Polarbits is offering  three high quality 3D games: Raging Thunder (car racing game), Wave Blazer (power boat racing) and Armageddon Squadron (arcade flight simulator / shooter). Despite the good quality those games are free of charge. There are several gaming modes supported. A multiplayer-mode is also included. What we really like is the game-control. Using the accelerometer API you can control your boat, aircraft or car easly. Take a look at our video to see how the games work. Not only the Nokia N97 has been updated but also its little brother got an update. The Nokia N97 mini  can now be updated to version 11.0.045 . Thus far v.11.0.045 is available via NSU only. Fortunately the N97 Mini sports User Data Preservation so that you don’t have to make a backup file

Firmware V11.0.045 brings:

• The software contains many fixes and improvements over v10 firmware including:
• More free RAM after booting (around 6MB more)
• Improved call reliability
• Browser improvements
• Music player improvements
• Improved image and video stability

Nokia Beta Labs have introduced Gig Finder, an application that helps you to find concerts and live music. Moreover, you can purchase tickets straight from your phone. Gig Finder works on all S60 5th Edition phones and can be downloaded right here. However, currently there are only the United States (USA), Canada, United Kingdom (UK), and Ireland supported.

• Easy Search. Quickly find where to find the best concerts & other music events near you. Search by artist, genre, city, venue, specific date, date range or a combination of any.
• Buy Tickets. Direct links connect your mobile to various ticket vendors to conveniently find the best seats & prices
• Smart Recommendations. Get recommendations for live events and venues based on your music tastes (profile & on device music library) and location
• Get Directions. See where the event is and how to get there with a direct link from Maps.
• Start the Buzz. Share information about the gig to Facebook, SMS, or Email.
• Download Music. Events link directly to the artist pages in Nokia Music Store / Ovi Music (when available in your country) so you can preview or download music before or after seeing your favourite artists live.

XpressCut is a simple but powerful application to cut and save songs directly on  your S60 5th Edition phone. Open XpressCut, select a song, set the start tag and the end. Once you pressed the save button it will create a new file and save the song. The quality of the new created file is good and can be send to your friends or can be used as a ringtone. Apparently, XpressCut is based on Phython and requires at least Python version 1.9.7. Install Python first and then XpressCut.

If you want uninstall multiple apps on a S60 device you can do it only one after the other, not several at once. This  is without a doubt a pain and takes some time.  With BatchUninstall, developed by Think Change, you can uninstall multiple application at once. You just need to select all apps you want to uninstall  and click ‘Delete Selected’. Batch Uninstall works on all S60 5th and 3rd edition devices.

ShazamID:

ShazamID is a great application that is a must have app for every music lover. Just hold your phone to a music source (speaker, radio etc.) and you will get artist, title and album within 20 seconds. More over you can buy the song straight throught the Nokia Music Store.

SportsTracker:

Nokia Sports Tracker is a GPS-based activity tracker. Information such as speed, distance, and time are automatically stored in your training diary. You can track your route on a map and upload it to the Sports Tracker service.

Opera Mobile 10 Beta:

Opera Mobile 10 is probably the best web browser available for any Nokia smartphone. It  brings some cracking features including an improved user interface, tabbed browsing and even a password manager. In contrast to the N97’s default brower, Opera Mobile can also handle online banking without problems. Unfortunately Flash is the only aspect not supported after all.

Gravity:

Gravity is the best twitter client available for the Nokia  N97. It’s a fully-featured, native Twitter client that supports multiple accounts, Twitter Search, Laconica, Ping.fm, posting of pictures via MobyPicture & TwitPic and wraps everything into a gorgeous looking interface.

Nimbuzz:

Nimbuzz Mobile lets you call, chat, message, and send files on the go, for free. It combines all your buddies from Skype, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, AIM, Google Talk, Twitter and more. One login, one contact list, all accounts. Need we say more.

The Nokia N97 Mini has a 5-megapixel camera on it’s back. In good light conditions it takes decent pictures. The question however is, how good the camera and Dual LED work in darkness.
