Sony Ericsson was the only manufacturer that announced a new Symbian based handset during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is an advanced version of the Vivaz, which was announced just a week prior to MWC. Apparently there are just two main differences between these two Symbian devices - a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and the downscaled 5-megapixel camera. Nokia to release Symbian^3 in Q3 2010DigiTimes have reported that Nokia is planing to speed up the development of the Symbian platform by launching Symbian^3, which will feature multi-touch functions, in the third quarter of 2010. Apparently the Finish giants are looking to scrap Symbian^2 altogether and continue to push the Symbian development even further with the release of Symbian^4 by the end of this year.

Samsung today announced that a new firmware update is due to hit the Samsung I8910 HD (OMNIAHD, GT-I8910), to improve the speed of multimedia performance and to add new functionalities to the device. The new firmware will update the Webkit – increasing the speed of the user-interface when online. An improved graphic engine will increase the speed to access multimedia content, and kinetic scrolling will also be introduced to provide a superior touch experience. The new firmware update will be available from January 2010 in the UK and will gradually roll out to other European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa and rest of the world. Skype have finally launched an official Skype application for S60 3rd Edition. The limited beta application runs on all S60 3rd Edition devices and can be downloaded here.
Just like the desktop version if you can call your sykpe contacts, write IMs, sent files and much more. It looks and works pretty good. Skype for Symbian works over Wifi or 3G data connection. We recommend having a unlimited data plan when using 3G connection.
