On Tuesday I attend the virtual Q&A session regarding the new 2.0 Firmware update for the Nokia N97. As mentioned earlier representing Nokia were Frank Zillikens, Lead Firmware Developer and Catalin Gheorghiu, a member of the technical team responsible for the new firmware. I want to thank you all for getting in touch and posting your queries, unfortunately I was unable to ask all your questions due to time limitations, however there were other interesting questions asked by the other bloggers during the session. You can find the full transcript after the break. Thoughts and discussions welcome. Read the rest of this entry »

As you all know I was in London last week courtesy of WomWorld, attending Nokia’s ‘Secret Event’ of the new Ovi Maps and Good Things. It was an incredible experience and there were nine other bloggers invited from all around the world. It was great to meet them all in person and get to know them a little better. If you’ve been following me over at The Nokia Review you would have seen my recent coverage about the event. I’ve put together my thoughts on the event which was based around the N97 mini and the new version of Ovi Maps. This new version will also feature on the Nokia N97 2.0 Firmware which is due to hit NSU anytime now. So head over and leave some comments on your thoughts. More updates will be up within the next few days so stay tuned.

After four months of waiting i finally managed to get ahold of (for myself) a black Nokia N97 and even though it is pritty big, but not as big as an iphone, i am still very impressed with it. So to celebrate (me finally getting one) i decided to post a few pictures of it for everyone to see – as seeing the same old “stock” shots do get bery boring.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone is one of the latest “budget” touchscreen devices to hit the market, and i managed to get ahold of one from “Carphone Warehouse”, as not only has this phone recently been released in the UK – but it is exclusive (for the moment) to Carphone warehouse in the UK, so to celebrate its arrival i decided to share my thoughts about the phone. I have been using the Nokia E71 for a few days now. In this time I have noticed many good and bad aspects about it. There are many positive points and I haven’t thought that I would like a device like the E71 so much, because I’m a big fan of multimedia – but the E71 isn’t multimedia, it’s business. One thing the E71 has proven to me yet, is that a multimedia-freak like me can also “fall in love” with a business-device like the E71.
But what is good and what is negative about the E71? Read the rest of this article to find it out – I’m sure you’ll find a little surprise at the end of the text…

A few days ago I received the Nokia E71. The device has a chromed housing, is pretty small and has everything a business-user needs. Starting with a full QWERTY-keyboard over a 3.2 megapixel camera and a big landscape display it is just great. As usually the first thing I’ve made is an unboxing. Enjoy!

The Nokia N81 is a device which especially is designed for gaming with the N-Gage platform. Since this is the main-feature of the N81 it isn’t an “all-in-one device” like the Nokia N95 or similar. Its worst feature is the camera. The device has a 2 megapixel camera without autofocus. The camera is supported by a LED-flash.
2 megapixel, LED-flash and no autofocus – you think that’s not too bad and it can compete with a three year old device like the N70? Far from it! The pictures are extremely noisy and only a few are really sharp. In bad lighting conditions the pictures are almost unusable. To show you what I mean I have made a little picture-gallery…

The possibility of playing high-quality games on a Nokia multimedia-computer is just great. With the N-Gage application you can play everywhere - on the go, in the bus, in the train or if you’re waiting somewhere for something. With a multimedia-computer by your side you won’t get bored. Unfortunately not all the devices which support N-Gage are real gaming-devices. They aren’t designed for N-Gage like the N81, but they support it.
The Nokia N95 is such a candidate which isn’t designed for N-Gage gaming. In this post I’ll compare it to the real “gaming-king” Nokia N81.

Today I received a package from WOM World/Nokia. This time it’s not a trialdevice as usually but something different: A Nokia Mapster! If you don’t know what a “Mapster” is, check out this post.
